Hosting Euchre

If you host a game of ipeuchre, it is your task to seat all the players at your table. To do this, you will have to click on a player's nickname in the name box beside the text area. Then, you will want to move your mouse to seat, and click on were you would like to seat that particular player. You will have to repeat this until all the players have been seated.

After all the players at the table have been seated, then you may start the game by pressing the "Start Game" button.

Bidding

A dialog box at the top of the table window will appear to determine whether the suit of the card turned up is to be declared the trump suit. The player to the left of the dealer will be the first to decide whether he/she wishes for that suit to be trump or not. If that player decides that he/she wants that suit to be the trump suit for that particular hand, the player will click on the Order button at the top of the screen. The bidder will then be asked if he/she wishes to Go Alone (meaning to play the hand without his/her partner). The dealer will then be prompted to take the UpCard. Note that the remaining players on the table will NOT be given the opportunity to determine the trump suit at this time. The dealer will, more than likely, take the UpCard and then be asked to discard one of the other cards from his/her hand. He/she will simply then double-click the card that is to be discarded, and the UpCard will take its place. If, however, the player does not want that suit as trump, he/she will simply click the Pass button. The bid will then pass to the next player and then follow the similar procedure as stated above. If the bid finally gets to the dealer and he/she decides to Pass as well, the UpCard is turned face-down, and the player to the left of the dealer may then choose between any of the three remaining suits as the trump suit. If he/she declares a trump suit, he/she will be asked if he/she wishes to Go Alone. Play will then begin with him/her (or basically, play will begin, regardless of the bidder, with the player to the left of the dealer). As each person who is given opportunity to declare the trump suit chooses to Pass and the bid returns to the dealer again, the dealer will have the final choice of what the trump suit will be. If he/she decides to Pass as well, the entire hand is thrown out. The deal is then passed to the next player to the left, and the cycle will begin again.

Playing The Hand

Play begins with the player to the left of the dealer. He/she will select a card from his/her hand to play. The play then continues to the left. A floating card and a yellow marker will help players keep track of whose turn it is. The winner of each trick will begin play of the next trick until all five tricks in the hand have been played.

Scoring

The computer will automatically keep score. One point is awarded to the bidding team if they manage to capture at least three of the five tricks in the hand. Two points are awarded to the bidding team if they manage to capture all five of the tricks in the hand.  This is called a march.  However, two points are awarded to the opposing team if the bidding team is not able to capture at least three of the five tricks in the hand (this is called being "Euchred"). Four points are awarded to the bidding team if they manage to capture all five of the tricks in the hand when it is played Alone. The game is played until one team has reached ten points.
